Our idea of helping improve the world has always been through education. We deliver ideas that help people live happier healthier lives in a cleaner environment. That still strikes me as the best way the two of us can contribute to helping our neighbors by using the experience, talents, and skills at our disposal.

Then again there are times when giving knowledge is not enough. The recent tsunami disaster is one example. From the very beginning we have been active in the relief efforts, as well as producing public health brochures and posters. Communications are important in such cases, but we also wanted to do more. We wanted to actually transport food, doctors, and medical supplies to those most in need.

For over 100 years Vega carried cargo in the North Sea. She is strong and stable. As an ex cargo boat she can carry a lot of weight in her hold. When the waves struck Vega was not ready for such a demanding task. Many of her systems were worn out or failing. Knowing that we were risking our boat and even our lives we felt this was something we simply had to do, so we did it.

Now we are making repairs as fast as possible so that we can load up for another trip. Thanks to others who understand our dream Vega will be in much better shape this time than she was the last trip. She will also carry a much larger cargo.
